We had an incredible time at Il Giova - they welcomed our family as if we were part of their own, overlooking our lack of Italian and just general loudness. On top of this, the food was absolutely delicious - our favorites were the Pici, the squid, and the Risotto.

Our favorite place in Florence to go for good food and to visit with the wonderful owner. The menu is daily on a piece of paper. The food divine.

Everyone was so welcoming to us visiting from Texas. We had the Ribollita, Truffle Pasta and Tiramisu. Delicious. Truly authentic and one of our best meals during this visit.

Incredible neighborhood dining experience. The staff was kind and attentive and took great pride in their delicious food. The drink menu is excellent as well and fairly priced. We would definitely dine there again next time we are in the Florence area.

Kiva, hyvin autenttiselta italialaiselta vaikuttanut ravintola. Hyvää ruokaa ja aivan asiallista palvelua turisteillekin, vaikka lounasaikaan paikka oli täynnä paikallisia. Menisin uudelleen jos muuten Firenzeen palaisin.

This was just okay. Read fabulous reviews and was very excited to go. Was definitely off the beaten path. We had the fried zucchini flower and fried mushrooms appetizer. That was delicious. I ordered spaghetti with tomato, basil and burrata. I don’t think the spaghetti was fresh pasta. There wasn’t anything special about it- however it was served piping hot which I like. I was a little disappointed…I didn’t feel as though it was an authentic Italian dish. My husband had the beef fillet. It was a very generous size. He ordered medium rare but the server recommended medium because she said the chef always prepared it RARE. He agreed- medium, please. She wasn’t kidding. It was very rare. He ate half of it and asked if they could cook it a bit more. (It was purple- so rare!) They took it back and returned it well done. He said that it was still good but he wasn’t interested in a well done beef fillet. The bread and olive oil (olive oil was €2 per person) were both very good. The servers (appeared to be a husband and wife team) were both very friendly and hospitable. Food took a very long time to come out. I learned about this restaurant from a travel blog. So did another set of diners seated nearby. I was hoping for a fabulous meal as we had experienced at 2 different restaurants in Florence but it was just okay. 😔

Wonderful home cooking. Lots of locals and a bit off the beaten path forwards the edge of the historical centre. Good pricing and portions. Will be back. We had the rabbit and wild boar pasta. Both were delicious and a very ample lunch for 2. Grazie mille!
