Loved this place. Hubby and I a bit fussy, not really fussy, just love great food. Last night had very average and expensive dinner at a recommended restaurant so we were a bit sad and our hopes were low about Trattoria alla Madonna. Anyway thought it was delicious! Bellini, spritz, bottle of Soave, he had the crab entree I had prosciutto with melon then we both had spaghetti vongole. It was all great. The best bit, they gave us seafood risotto, extra cheese and limoncello on the house! I think they sensed our love of food, at least I hope so. Our son had spaghetti bolognese and a weirdly delicious apple juice. We finished with a cheese and tiramisu. It was incredible people watching, both the waiters & the customers and probably half the price of the previous night and a much, much better experience all around. Thank you Trattoria all’s Madonna for still being human with probably the 10 thousands tourist you’ve seen this summer. I’m a high end waiter in Sydney and I really couldn’t fault the service. Definitely the best restaurant in Venice, highly recommend. Four of us ate here & the food is outstanding. From the crab, Vomgole & pasta dishes to start, main courses of fish & steak - exceptional quality. Tiramisu is the best I have ever tasted. Atmosphere & service second to none. Thank you Trattoria dells Madonna. My parents visited on their annual Venice trips & I know why they continually loved it so much - and the locals love it too😊👍
The waiter tried to pass off a dish of shrimp for a dish of langoustines ((When he realized that it would not pass, he said he would try to change the dish. In the end, brought the right dish. In Venice there are restaurants not worse and where it is not openly trying to cheat . Of the advantages-dishes made from fresh products, low price Cameriere un piatto di gamberetti ha dato per un piatto di scampi (( Quando si rese conto che questo non avverrà, ha detto che cercherà di cambiare il piatto. Alla fine ha portato il piatto giusto. A Venezia ci sono ristoranti non peggio e dove non cercano di ingannare francamente . Dai vantaggi-i piatti sono preparati con prodotti freschi, prezzo basso
We eat at Alla Madonna at least once every trip and 20 years on we’ve not had a bad meal. The menu has fish and meat. Yes there are lots of tourists and the menu comes in various languages but it is a traditional trattoria. Risotto (for one), scampi fritti, whole fish and peas (Piselli) are just a few dishes worth trying
It's a classic, been coming here since the 70's with my father, he'd been going there since the 50's. Authentic food without the Venetian prices. Always a crowd and lots of them are locals. There is always a buzz and always a lot of energy. Can't visit Venezia without having lunch here. ❤️
My husband came to this place 40 years ago and wanted to revisit because of the fond memory. He enjoyed it, but I thought it was a total tourist trap. The food was good, but not so extraordinary. The service is limited. They do make a huge difference to the repeat customers v.s, one time newbe for sure. (A chef personally delivering a dish and hand shaking back slapping with repeaters vs no smile just slap down eat and get out of here service to a tourist) It’s not too expensive, so I guess I will allow it, but will not go back.
