What a wonderful little hole in the wall! The staff was very welcoming and super accommodating for our group of 8. The food was delicious, the wine was perfect and all for a reasonable price. Would definitely come back! A special thank you to the owner for going above and beyond to make us feel welcome on our first night in Venice. You made it a truly wonderful experience :)

Waiter was very nice in welcoming guests and serving dishes. We ordered fish as starter and second course. Fried fish was too oily and breading was not crispy. We would not recommend this place

Mediocre food, fishy shrimp. French fries instead of roasted potatoes that are on the menu. Friendly staff and good pour of house wine.

I had printed the prices for "primi" (7-10 euros, at the most) and "secondi"(10-15 euros, at the most) dishes in the section "TOURIST MENU" from the restaurant's web page before taking the trip. Had made a reservation for lunch for 3 consecutive days, but gave up after the first experience, as I found their practice extremely fraudulent. I ordered tagliatelle with prawns and artichokes (at 10 euros in their Tourist Menu, online) and a glass of white wine. As I ordered by taking out my prepared printed excerpt from the menu, the waiter commented that the Tourist Menu applied only to the tourist groups, if you came in a group (?). I got a very modest portion of tagliatelle (not to satisfy my hunger), more for a child than an adult, half of a heart of an artichoke and a few prawns. For tagliattelle alone was charged 16, instead of 10 euros, as indicated on the "Tourist" menu. Realized how cheated I had been in "Il Vagone"regarding the quantity of food (portion size, number of dishes and the price) when I visited another tavern (The Riva Rialto, by Rialto bridge) and the upscale, very nice restaurant Roma, on Canareggio 122, with a terrace right by the Canal Grande (The Tavern Il Vagone is in an obscure street with no appealing view at all, facing the opposite wall of the street, at a very short distance). In taverns, like the one right next door to "Il Vagone" and in Riva Rialto, by the Rialto bridge, by Canal Grande you get exactly the same menu of 3 sequences of dishes (called "Menu of the Day") to select from a group of different items, for the price of 12 euros, in total, in the first one and 12.90 euros in the latter (I took pictures of their menues posted outside) : in the "primi" you had a selection of pastas, including wonderful lasagne or spaghetti with sauces to choose from (I took lasagne which turned out to be delicious and quite filling as a portion size), in "secondi" a selection of meat or fish dishes (I took Fritto misto, mixed fried fish with squids) and in the Third section they had a salad or fried potatoes. So, the combination of 3 dishes for the price of 12 or 12.90 euros!!! At a luxurious restaurant "Roma", at the bank of Canal Grande right when you get out of the claustrophobically narrow street where "Il Vagone" is located, you can select a delightful dish for the price of 12-25 euros at the most (steak in the green pepper sauce). And the view is priceless. So, no, thank you to "Il Vagone". Ripping off the uninformed.

Questo ristorante è eccellente, non pretenzioso ma distinto e offre cibo di buona qualità e con un servizio cortese ed efficiente. Situato vicino alla stazione ferroviaria e al vaporetto.

American expats who live in Rome, so take this review with as much salt as you’d like - we love Venice. We do not love Venetian food. Vagone, like most Venetian restaurants is fine-to-good. Our bottle of wine was fine, the seafood was fine, etc. Nothing is “great,” like in other Italian cities. But you can get much, much worse in the city, so make reservations here with confidence that you will get at least OK food. All this said, the staff is actually QUITE nice, so if you need a break from wait staff that can’t be bothered, this is actually a lovely place to go.

Also die Portionen waren recht klein und dafür zu teuer, das Rind eher an der flachsigen Seite, der Kellner und Koch sehr nett, sehr kinderfreundlich

Un ristorante verramente Venezia molto vicino alla stazione Questa era la vera cucina veneziana: grigliata spigola intera, patate arrosto, verdure grigliate. Molti piatti di pasta disponibili ma non ho avuto un primo a causa di vincoli di tempo per prendere il mio treno. Delizioso e altamente raccomandato. Particularmente se ha un treno della sera o arriva in Venezia tarde alla sera I followed Trip Advisor's recommendation and it was spot on: this was true Venetian cooking: grilled whole sea bass, roasted potatoes, grilled vegetables. Many pasta dishes available but I did not have a primo because of time constraints to catch my train. Delicious and highly recommended. Particularly if you have an evening train or arrive in Venice late in the evening.

Locale famigliare. Buon cibo e ospitalità cortese. Una piacevole sorpresa a tanti chilometri da casa. Un simpatico regalo da portare a casa alla fine della serata

Ci siamo trovati davvero bene, trattoria ottima, cameriere gentilissimo, educato e alla mano. Abbiamo mangiato molto bene, prezzi inerenti al locale, siamo usciti super contenti, ottimo!!
