casual place in a part of the city not touristy. food and service are good

We had booked a table for 5 for Christmas eve. As we got there, the welcome was very cold and we were not made to feel valued at all. The whole meal was rushed and it was obvious they could not wait for us to be finished and gone in order to close. The restaurant was pretty much empty but for our table. The first waiter we had who took our order was cold and rude, very dismissive and unpleasant. Our food arrived very quickly but our plates were taken away from us the second we had finished our food. The service was terrible and what was meant to be a lovely evening was simply not. We were in and out within no time at all, it was very sad. We thankfully had a different member of staff who took over half way through and who seemed more in charge, he was friendly and nice but by then, the tone was set and the evening pretty much spoilt for us. The food was OK but nothing special, except for the mixed fried fish which was very tasty and that we had ordered as a starter to share. Overall, a very disappointing experience, especially considering that it was the beginning of our stay in Venice and Christmas eve. I rarely leave negative reviews for restaurants, but sadly, on this occasion, I most definitely would not recommend. It made us wonder why they were opened on that night when it was obvious the whole staff wanted to be gone and we were the last / only customers there.
