You seriously need to reserve -- the place is smallish, and lots of disappointed people were turned away. (Nicely.) The food was even better than the good reviews led me to believe it would be. I had pumpkin gnocchi that blew my mind. My friends loved their food too -- I don't think you can go wrong. Surprisingly deep and thoughtful wine list. Charming, solicitous and English speaking owner/waiter. I have no criticism!!!

We arrived early for our reservation and they graciously seated us. Our waitress took excellent care of us. The food was delicious and we had too many good choices! The menu looked seasonal as we saw many pumpkin options, and several local seafood options. The mixed seafood antipasti was delicious and we particularly liked the grilled squid. We split the seppie (squid ink) pasta alla Veneziana, which was delicious. We are hoping to eat here again before our trip is over.

There’s a quiet charm to the place, perhaps drawn from its unusual heritage as one of the oldest osterie in Venice. From the moment we stepped inside, we were met with a warm welcome from the owner, the kind of hospitality that instantly makes you feel at home. We started with handmade bread, fresh from the kitchen – soft, warm, and just the right amount of chew. Then came the starters: feather-light calamari in a creamed pea sauce, so clean and delicately flavoured it felt like summer on a plate. The beef carpaccio was equally impressive – silky, beautifully seasoned, and lifted by shavings of parmesan and tiny slivers of zucchini that added a fresh, tangy brightness. For primi, I had large fusilli with creamed pea and zucchini sauce, finished with crispy guanciale. Rich, salty, and perfectly balanced – it was so good it brought tears to my eyes. My wife’s venison ragù was a triumph: thick, velvety sauce with a depth of flavour that felt both delicate and indulgent. The wine list isn’t long, but it doesn’t need to be – what’s there is well chosen and complements the food beautifully. If you’re looking for something genuinely authentic, full of heart and flavour, and far from the crowds, this place is a true gem.

Mi permetto solo un piccolo suggerimento, quando c’è una prenotazione ed il tavolo non è pronto e nell’attesa si chiedono due calici di vino non è bello metterli nel conto finale, soprattutto visto il conto..per il resto fantastico!
